Well it has been a couple of weeks since our last post. We here hope you all had a very Merry Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. We all did, even Jim Foster, Mr. Scrooge himself broke down and got into the spirit of the season.

Welcome back to the weekly Behind the Scenes newsletter. With the holidays quickly approaching, we have not had any public shows to share with you. We have one last one for the year on December 23 at Down Under so we are all going to have to make it count. We have had a blast performing at holiday parties and we will have many more between now and Christmas but you can always catch our sister bands, Limelight and Downtown Fever. Well now that Thanksgiving has come and gone and we have all had our fill of turkey and pumpkin pie, it is time to work off some of that added weight we all put on over the holidays. That means it is time to do some serious dancing and grooving! Let's kick it off this week with an early weekday show this Thursday at Sullivan's Ringside. The last show there was such a blast, the place was just packed and dance floor was never empty so bring on your funkiest dance moves, we have got you covered!
We have private events the rest of the weekend but you can catch our sister band Downtown Fever at Cape Buffalo Saturday night. They will be performing all of your favorite dance tunes and you never know, we just might stop by and sneak in a couple of tunes for you.

The Beat Goes On!

Hello everyone, welcome back to the show that never ends. Thanks for an incredible weekend of music and dancing. Last Thursday we were at Sullivans Ringside and was this party on fire. Great crowds and lots of friends. Friday night we performed to another huge crowd at Cape Buffalo. Over 1200 people at this new redesigned venue. What a party! Saturday we took the big show to Fort Worth for the annual Margarita Ball. This event helps raise money for the Childrens Charities of Fort Worth. This year yielded the biggest turnout ever and record toys donated for needy kids. Thanks to Bruce and Aaaron with the Fort Worth Margarita Society for having us back. We donated two New Years Eve Packages for their auction and they went for over $1500. Great stuff. Thanks to Scott Murray as well for hosting this great event.
This week we have no public dates but make sure to catch us for our big, big special Pre-Thanksgiving Show at Sambuca 360 on Thursday, November 25. This one will be off the hook! Feels Like The First Time !

Once again, we had an incredible week of events, mostly private but Sunday we performed at the Texas Motor Speedway for the No Limits Garage Party held in Pit Row. It was an early show but we had a chance to share the stage with a couple of guys from Foreigner who performed a couple of acoustic numbers. Great guys! We have some video footage from the event that will be posted on our Facebook page. This week we have three great events for all our fans. Thursday we are back at Sullivans Ringside. It has been a while so expect a capacity crowd.Friday we will be at Cape Buffalo. Our last show there was a Halloween Show to a crowd of over 1500 people. This one should be a blast too. Saturday we take the big show to Fort Worth Convention Center for the annual Margarita Ball. This is always a blast and benefits the Children's Charities of Fort Worth and hosted by Scott Murray. Check out their website for more info on this great event. New Years Eve is only a month and a half away and tickets are just getting scooped up like crazy. Make sure to secure your spot at this Ultimate New Years Eve Party. Last year was sold out and a lot of people were left out. Don't be one of them.

Emerald City's Halloween Havoc!

WOW! What a weekend of great Halloween fun! We started off Thursday night with a great packed show at at Sambuca 360. Friday we took the big show to Cape Buffalo and was it an event! This was the biggest crowd ever seen at this newly remodeled venue. Well over 1500 people in attendance. At one point the line of cars ran from the venue to the tollway. Unbelievable. The Naughty Halloween Costume Contest was one of a kind with some incredible original ideas. The dancing and partying could have gone on all night. Saturday we performed at the House of Blues for a private Halloween show. The band and guests all had great costumes and we had a blast with everyone. Big Boo Weekend!!!!

EC Fans, are you ready for a big Halloween weekend? Well we have just the party weekend for you. Let's start with this past week, EC had another event filled weekend and it started Friday night at Fat Daddys where we all celebrated a Texas Rangers win and their very first World Series appearance. Congrats to all our friends in the Rangers organization. Saturday we performed for the Living for Zachary Foundation Run at the Shops at Legacy. The weather held up and we had a great turnout for this great cause. Raising money for the prevention of cardiac arrest in children. Great organization, check out their site for more info.
And now for this week, Thursday we kick off an early weekend party at Sambuca 360 in Plano. This place will be slammed so get there early. Friday, we have the Big Boo Blowout at Cape Buffalo. We want all our fans to wear their craziest costumes. We have some special prizes for some lucky Trick or Treaters.

What A Weekend!

A Big Hello Emerald City Fans, we made it through the weekend. WOW!!! That was an event filled week for us. Let's start at the beginning. Sunday we performed at the Toyota U.S. Open Triathlon sponsored by Lifetime Fitness. An incredible turnout by athletes and supporters. We even performed to a Zumba class which was a first for us. Monday we hit the road and headed to Houston where we performed at the Hilton of Americas for a huge convention. We then headed back to the Midwest and Kansas City. We performed a live outdoor concert in the Power & Light District in their awesome live music setting called KC LIVE! With over 4000 people in attendance, this was one of the biggest block parties ever thrown. We flew back to Big D and performed at Sullivan's Ringside with our sister band Downtown Fever. That was so much fun getting to perform with fellow musicians and mixing it up to lay down some great dance tunes for you all. Friday night we took the Big Show to Cape Buffalo and their new live music room. With a great awesome crowd, we kicked into high gear heading into the weekend. Thanks to Willie for making us feel at home with his generous hospitality. After a couple of hours of sleep, we headed to Northpark Mall and the main stage at the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure. We donate our time each year for this great cause and once again, they met their monetary goal and the attendance was in the tens of thousands. Great job to all the volunteers and staff that put this great event on each year for this great cause. A big thanks to Clarice Tinsley and FOX 4 News for all that they do for us. We then headed to our next afternoon event downtown which was a private affair and after that, another private wedding for some dear friends. Well, that was it, what a week! This week we have only one public show, we will be at Fat Daddy's in Fort Worth. Great new venue for us. We will see you all there!

Lost Weekend!!!!

Hey EC Fans, another great weekend in the books for us. Friday we performed at the Oklahoma State H.O.G. Rally in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Great group of Harley Davidson weekend warriors that came from all over the US for this great weekend of festivities at the Ardmore Convention Center. Thanks for the hospitality Don! Saturday we performed at the Deerfield Community Oktoberfest and had an incredible turnout for this neighborhood event. Great brats and beer as well as tons of dancing in the park. Sunday morning we performed at the Toyota US Open Triathlon Trials sponsored by Lifetime Fitness. What an incredible group of athletes that braved the cool weather to compete in this grueling event. We actually got to perform music to a Zumba class, what fun! This week we hit the road and fly to Houston and Kansas City for big events. We come back for our only public performance on Friday night at Cape Buffalo, come see the newly remodeled venue and new live music room. We look forward to a huge turnout. Saturday morning, make sure to catch us on FOX 4 TV at 9am or better yet, come on out to Northpark Mall as we perform live at the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure. This incredible event is always a must so come lend your support for this great cause and help raise breast cancer awareness. Don't forget about our Ultimate New Years Eve Party held this year at the Hotel Intercontinental in Addison, TX. Tickets are already going fast so make your room package reservations now. Oktoberfest and ECNYE.......

EC Fans, this weather sure is awesome. With the changing of the season, Emerald City has some great things coming up. We start with this weekend, Saturday and Sunday are our only public performances and we take to the streets. Streets of Deerfield that is. We perform for the Deerfield Community Oktoberfest in North Dallas. This will be outdoors at the Deerfireld Community Park and there will be food and adult drinks for everyone. Tickets are available now, check out our website for more information.
Sunday we will be performing at the U.S. Toyota Triathlon Trials in Rockwall. We then head out to Houston and Kansas City respectively for some corporate events.
Well if you have not heard by now, we have officially begun selling tickets to our great Rock the '11 New Years Eve Party. As you all know, last year was a complete sellout and there were a lot of disappointed fans that could not get in or buy a room package. Well this year, we are doing it bigger and better. It will be held at the Hotel Intercontinental in Addison, TX and the response has already been incredible. Visit the official ECNYE website for ticket and package information. Old El Paso.........

What's up EC Fans, another week gone by and lots of news to share with you all. We started the week off on Thursday performing under the stars at Austin Ranch, a residential community in North Dallas. We had an incredible turnout and made tons of new fans. Check out our photo album on Facebook to see all the fun. Friday we took the show on the road and headed west to El Paso, Texas. We performed at a fundraiser event which had a Latin Carnival theme. Check out the video below for some great scenes from the party. We flew back Saturday and after a cancelled flight and some delays, we made it back home. We performed a private wedding that evening and called it a week. We would like to say Happy Birthday to EC alumni and Limelight band leader, Mark Russell. Happy Birthday big guy!

Rally 'Round Emerald City!

Hello again from the EC family. Last week we had just one public show, but it was a fun one. We were at the Rally 'Round Greenville festival in the heart of downtown Greenville, Texas. Awesome fans and food. Thanks to Milton Babb and all the folks from the city whose hospitality made for a great evening of music and celebration.
This week we have just one public show, it will be at Austin Ranch in The Colony on Thursday September 23 from 7:00-9:00pm. Come on out and enjoy what will be one huge party. Working for a Living.....

Hey EC Fans,
We had another great road trip this past weekend and we also celebrated our trumpet player Jim's birthday.It all started Friday as we flew to Kansas City to perform at a fundraiser at the Kansas City Motor Speedway. We performed with our good friends Huey Lewis & The News. Even thought the weather was being uncooperative, we had a great time seeing old friends and toughing out the storm. We headed back to the hotel after the gig where we proceeded to throw Jim a make shift birthday party. Jimmy Jack was in rare form and we filmed a nice video to show you all. Check out this weeks video newsletter to see some of the fun.
Then it was off to Oklahoma City where we performed at one of our favorite spots, Nichols Hills. What an audience, these folks had a really good time as did we. Afterwards, we went back to the hotel and hung out with some of our drummer Kenny's old friends, The Burtons, who happened to be performing in the lobby bar. Some of the horn players played with the band as did Kenny. All of a sudden, half our audience from the earlier show came to the bar and then it was on. We closed the place down with some great music and drinks. After a rough start, we flew back to Big D on Sunday morning and closed out another Big EC Weekend. This week we have one public show, in Greenville, TX. It is the Rally 'round Greenville Street Festival and it is free and open to all. Come out to this great event and dance to some great tunes, right in the heart of downtown Greenville. Hope to see you all there. Have a great week!

Labor Day Fun in the Sun!

We hope everyone had a fantastic Labor Day weekend. We sure did. As we said goodbye to Summer, we welcome the beginning of Fall with some great shows. Last week started with a smoking dance fest at Sullivans Ringside. This place always brings out the best in our fans dance moves. We then took the road show to Fat Daddy's in Fort Worth. Now this was our first time performing at this new venue and I have to say, the staff and management were just awesome to us. We want to thank all our fans that made the journey from North Dallas. We always love to see all you guys. Fort Worth came out for a great time and that is exactly what we gave them. We look forward to coming back soon.
This week we have a public show in the City of Bedford
(visit www.emeraldcityband.com for details). We then take the Emerald City Big Show on the road to Kansas City where we perform at the Kansas City Motor Speedway with Huey Lewis & The News. Always a great time with old friends. Then we jet off to Oklahoma City for a private show. We will be back in full swing after our road trip with new shows and new looks so stay tuned for more EC News!

Emerald City Strikes Again!

Hey EC Fans, we had another great round of public shows this past week beginning with Thursday at Down Under in Frisco. The dance floor was packed from the first downbeat and never let up. When we plan a party, you show up in full force. We then took the show to Cape Buffalo where we set another attendance record for this venue. They are remodeling and building a bigger live music room and stage so we got to say goodbye to the old one in true EC style. When the new room opens up, we will plan a huge throwdown and make sure you are all invited.
This weeks schedule has us performing two public shows, Sullivans Ringside Thursday September 2 and we hit a new hotspot in Fort Worth on Friday September 3, Fat Daddy's. You have two chances to catch us live so make your plans now. We want to see you front and center.

The Party Continues.....

Well it was another event filled weekend for us. We started the party at Sambuca 360 on Thursday and what a start it was. A completely packed house and plenty of birthday ladies on hand. We then performed two private events, one where we captured our infamous Troblemaker horn section serenading a nice young lady on the dance floor. Her significant other was not expecting that. Check out the video below to get an insider glimpse of the fun.

This week we bring the EC party train to Memphis in Addison on Tuesday August 24. These once a month Tuesday Summer Nights are just getting crazier as the heat swells. August 26 we are at Down Under for another Awesome Aussie Thursday throwdown. Make sure to get there early as seating is limited. August 27, we officially kick off the weekend with our Funky Friday Fanfest at Cape Buffalo. Make sure to give Deno a shout out, you never know, he just may buy you an adult libation.

Come see why Emerald City is the by far the most imitated but never duplicated band in Texas. It is the show that never ends!

Kansas City, It was Real.......

Hello again EC Fans. We are now deep into summer and the heat has just been brutal here in Texas. This past week we performed at Down Under to another great crowd that was looking to cool off with some cold drinks and great dance beats. Emerald City also has another road trip in the books, this time to the land of Dorothy and Toto, Kansas City. We performed at a corporate fundraiser out in Edgerton, Kansas at a beautiful horse farm there. We have a video to share with you below. We got caught in a pretty good storm at the tail end of the show but the crowd loved every minute of our infectious beats and sounds. We look forward to returning next month for another great event.
This week we have just one public show at Sambuca 360 on Thursday and the last performance was a complete sellout. Our suggestion to you is to arrive early if you want to get a seat. Otherwise, you are SRO.....Come bring in the weekend with us a this beautiful hotspot in North Dallas. Emerald City Band, Don't threaten us with a good time baby! Chow!

Emerald City Road Trip-St. Louis

Hello EC Fans, we made it back from another road trip. This time we visited the grand midwest city of St. Louis, MO. We performed for a beautiful wedding event held at the famous Grand Union Station Hall. This facility used to be the old rail station that everyone came through in the early 1900's when crossing the country. The artistic work and brass work in this place is just exquisite. The warm hospitality that we received was just great and the party was just over the top. We could not have asked for a better audience as the dancing just went on all night long. We celebrated Billy's birthday afterwards at the famous Maggie O' Briens down the street where we proceeded to let the shots flow....some more than others. Ha!

Now that we are back, we prepare for our only public show this Thursday at Down Under in Frisco, then it is off to Fort Worth for a private event and then again back on the road, this time to Kansas City for a huge private event there. We will keep you posted on more EC happenings, until then, here is a short video from our last performance on Friday at Cape Buffalo as well as some pictures from St. Louis. Well, another great weekend in Emerald City world. Two great public shows and the crowds were just incredible. You know, it never gets old hearing that. Our fans are simply the best. You never let us down. Thursday at Down Under in Frisco was so much fun. It was as if you guys did not want the party to end. Shonna and Donovan and Lyn simply just tore it up and the horns and rhythm section could not have been more on. What a killer recipe for creating the perfect dance storm.

Thanks to Sherry and Matthew Wilder for supplying the much needed cold adult beverages as the temperature rose quickly with all that fun on the dance floor.

Friday night was a special show for our friends that own Cape Buffalo. Their sister venue Wizards in Richardson was the site for the Lady GaGa after party and man was this place just rocking! We have not performed there in years and it was as if we never left. The staff was so hospitable and the owners made sure that the Troublemaker horn section were put in just the right mood to make sure that everyone had a great time.

This Week in EC News

Hey there EC Fans, we had two great shows this past week. Thursday at Sambuca 360 was incredible. This show had the largest attendance this venue has seen yet and we left them wanting more. We then took the show down the tollway to Cape Buffalo on Friday night. Now if you were not there, you missed what can only be described as the mother of all Cape Buffalo shows. Parking was insane as cars were being parked blocks away just to get to this joint. The wait to get in was not too bad but once inside, this was the party to be at.

As one EC fan says:

"I saw you guys at Cape Friday night. Biggest crowd I have seen there in years!! Loved it!! See you again soon. Keep doing your thing!!"

McCormick-McMartin Wedding Thanks

Both families were so thrilled how smoothly the wedding and reception went and how beautiful everything looked!! None of it could have happened without each of you. We are so excited about the new addition to the Emerald City Band family. Introducing Shonna Bonds......

Shonna hit the Dallas music scene four years ago as the lead singer for the popular band Time Machine.

From the moment she began to sing at the age of six in church as well as singing contests throughout the Midwest, winning most of them, she immediately fell in love with country music. It was not until she moved to Dallas in 2005 that she began to sing pop/rock music.

Since then, she has performed almost every night in clubs, casinos, special events and weddings in Texas and surrounding states. This allowed her to spread her wings vocally in many music genres.

She credits Celine Dion and Michael Jackson as her greatest musical influences.

Shonna will now bring her incredible energy and infectious stage presence to the Emerald City Band which will only elevate an already out of this world show!

Wedding at the Cotton Mill in McKinney

On Friday night we played a wedding at a new venue for us, The Old Cotton Mill in McKinney. It is a refurbished cotton mill made into an event facility. It was pretty cool.

Chase's Place Fundraiser 2-5-10

Last Month we played a fund raiser for Chase's Place which is a private day school serving students with developmental disabilities including mental retardation, PDD/Autism, traumatic brain injuries and neurological disorders.
